48 – Starbucks Is Not Open Now…

Its Not Milo. It's Hot Chocolate

Song of the Hour 4:
Enigma – Return To Innocence

Why do people love commercialised coffee so much? What’s people’s obsession with hanging out in places like that or at least get their dose of coffee in places like that? I don’t know…come to think of it…even some of my mates here can’t escape the fact they still go to places like that for their tall decaf mochachino or something like that.

It’s a capitalist curse is what I say.

Look at that hot chocolate. It’s not much at all that’s what I can say…but I can tell you it tastes good. If I spent an extra 7 bucks on a can of whipped cream and some chocolate sprinkles. You get a Starbucks drink…that doesn’t drain your wallet of its lifeforce…and you still can make MORE hot choc.

And look…I can improvise too.

If I dumped it all into a blender with ice. I get ice blended whatchamacallit. If I add in some coffee in there, I get mocha. If I whisk some hot milk up that I have lying around. I get that latte foam thingie. I get all the comforts of a commercialised coffee house which includes a comfortable place to sit on, internet access, soothing music…without actually having to waste MORE money on transport and drive all the way to places like those to do the same thing.

It makes no sense at all.

So here is to the cheap classy drinks you can make in your own home.

May the spirit of ingenuity deliver us from the capitalistic plague that threatens to empty our wallets on useless things that give us a pitiful sense of self whenever we want to order it.

Amen to that.

  1. I am quite dependent on coffee. You can call me a coffee addict, I guess.

I make my own coffee at home. Starbucks and The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf are too expensive for me.

I prefer Old Town white coffee. Maybe you should try it? I get my supply from Jusco :)
