I'm sorry. This post was supposed to be for when the 6 hour marked hit. I completely forgot because I was too busy with the cubes. But anyway, sleep deprivation is a very serious thing. It can cause many side effects that can affect our physical bodies or mental condition.
This picture is an example of it.
So as a word of warning. Do not go for more than 24 hours without sleep unless you need to…like your assignments…or like we are…for Blogathon 2005, otherwise permanent dire physical or mental defects may result from it.
Take it from a man of science.
Either that or take it from this conversation from the official Blogathon 2005 IRC channel:
<Dustyhawk> oh how i wish ..there was a bowl on this seat so i can take a dump now…
Go figure.

i am 16 and have been up for almost 72 hours and am starting to see “shadow figures” does this mean I am already permanently damaged in any way?

Nope, that’s just your brain trying to compensate for a lack of sleep. Happens all the time. You start to hear things or see things. That’s normal.

I tend to doze off in the middle of a converation when the subject matter cannot command my attention. It’s the chest. There is a feeling that the chest will burst open any minute!

Isn’t that anticipation of complete boredom?

…also entry into the wonderful and blissful world of sleep. I wonder if the threshhold of death is similar.

The record for the longest period without sleep is 18 days, 21 hours, 40 minutes during a rocking chair marathon. The record holder reported hallucinations, paranoia, blurred vision, slurred speech and memory and concentration lapses.
The lack of sleep is a factor for obesity.
