B2007: Myths About Cancer #3

Old and New

You Can Beat Cancer With A Strict Dietary Regime

Because cancer is a result of a genetic mutation, whatever dietary regime you take would not repair the damage already done. By now you should be able to understand that if the body can't repair the mutation, the cell is programmed to self-terminate to prevent the mutation from passing the damages to the next generation.

Proper nutrition does help alleviate certain risk factors involved with cancer. It also helps improve the lifestyle of a person affected with cancer. However it cannot reduce the size of a tumour by starving it. It cannot reduce the size of the tumour by boosting the body's immune system. It does not cure cancer.

You should always consult a proper doctor whenever you plan to take up these dietary regimes in conjunction with cancer treatment. Never gamble misinformation and a lack of common sense with your life or the lives of the people you care for. You just might lose more than you bargained for and by then, there is no turning back.

This year Footsteps in the Mirror will be blogging to raise money for the Association for International Cancer Research which is a non-profit organisation that helps fund cancer research throughout the world. If you're willing to help, you can sign up on the Blogathon website and pledge your amount right here. Help make a difference, no matter how small it may be.
