While some cancers require more advanced tests to detect them, the more common cancers such as breast, prostate, cervical and colon cancers can be prevented with regular screening. Examinations such as feeling for lumps, regular prostate examination or pap smears help decrease the risk of benign tumours developing into malignant cancers.
If certain lumps or cellular abnormality is detected early. The doctors can remove the tissue without any further complication and stop any abnormal progression in its tracks.
If you have a familial history of a certain cancer, be sure to check up with your doctor every 6 months to a year and be familiar with the common test which could mean the difference between getting out with an early warning or missing it completely and ending up with advance cancer.
Remember, being proactive isn’t paranoid. It’s just common sense.
