That’s The Way It Is…

You know the song by Celine Dion? That’s The Way It Is? That’s a good song don’t you think? I mean…I love that song. It has always been a reminder of the things I fight for the most to live.

I can read your mind and I know your story.
I see what you’re going through.
It’s an uphill climb, and I’m feeling sorry.
But I know it will come to you.

Don’t surrender ’cause you can win.
In this thing called love.

When you want it the most there’s no easy way out.
When you’re ready to go and your heart’s left in doubt.
Don’t give up on your faith.
Love comes to those who believe it.
And that’s the way it is.

When you question me for a simple answer.
I don’t know what to say, no.
But it’s plain to see, if you stick together.
You’re gonna find a way, yeah.

So don’t surrender ’cause you can win.
In this thing called love.

When you want it the most there’s no easy way out.
When you’re ready to go and your heart’s left in doubt.
Don’t give up on your faith.
Love comes to those who believe it.
And that’s the way it is.

When life is empty with no tomorrow.
And loneliness starts to call.
Baby, don’t worry, forget your sorrow.
‘Cause love’s gonna conquer it all, all.

When you want it the most there’s no easy way out.
When you’re ready to go and your heart’s left in doubt.
Don’t give up on your faith.
Love comes to those who believe it.
And that’s the way it is.

Someone once told me something which at that time made sense. Men in general want their relationship to be the first. Women however…want their relationship to be the last. Makes sense though when you consider the level of emotional attachment that comes with love and the type of people who work through it.

Some people are probably scoffing at that song this very instant. Why? Because why would you still have faith in something that burned you? Makes no sense right? Well…thing is…maybe because while I may not have been born bitter, I was rasied to value the importance of love. While half the people are going “Who needs love anyway?“. I’m still the romantic no matter how burned I am.

I mean…fine…I understand the revulsion on those days when you give flowers, serenade your partner and start with all sorts of funny food names like honeybun and apple muffin. But future…the end result of love is much deeper than that isn’t it? Who’s there to hold you when you feel so alone? Who’s there to kiss away your tears that you shed? Who’s there to comfort you in your heart and mind when you need to? Who’s there to laugh and smile at the crappiest jokes you can make? Who’s there to stick their tongue in places where it’s best left to imagination? Who’s there to just be there for who you are?

I could go on with so many reasons. But in the end, like the song…it all depends on you. You may have a bad run into love. Maybe you’re scared of it. Maybe you think too much. Whatever the reason, love comes when you believe in it. Love burns when you make it happen. When you keep the fire lit…it will always burn.

My reasons of keeping my faith in love are simple. They are the future…they are my future. A future I would want to see happen. I just have to believe that’s all. Just have to smile and work at it.

That’s all I can do…and that’s the way it is.
