A Question For All PPS Pingers

Sometimes you got to ask yourself, what defines a good blog?

Is it a blog that can discuss serious issues?

Is it a blog that can crap around like nobody’s business?

Is it a blog that talks about technology?

Is it a blog that talks about their personal life?

Is it a blog that copies and pastes other news online?

Is it a blog that parodies other blogs?

Is it a blog that abides by web standards and protocols?

Is it a blog that completely screws all standards to hell?

Is it a blog that talks about sex?

Is it a blog that posts things that make you think about sex?

Is it a blog that talks about blogs?

Is it a blog that causes other blogs to talk about blogs?

Is it a blog that writes about scandals and gossips?

Is it a blog that produces the scandals and gossips?

Is it a blog that uses keywords to get more hits?

Is it a blog that produces the keywords that people use?

Is it a blog that caters for the audience?

Is it a blog that caters for your own self?

We all got to ask these questions one time or another.

Don’t you think it’s about time you made your blog better?

  1. I think it depends on WHY you have a blog in the first place and how you perceive YOUR blog to be. I like my blog to be a place where I can unload my own thoughts into – it’s more like a public ‘personal’ space. If people don’t like it, it’s okay.

Having said that, I don’t think it’s fair for us to go around judging other people’s blogs. I mean in the face of healthy competition, don’t we have the choice to NOT view something if we don’t like it? We can’t say that we don’t have the choice to just close off a page – since the onus is actually on us – the consumers and creators of information on the Net.

By the by, isn’t the term ‘good’ in itself subjective?

  2. Mei: As much as we like to say we have the right to close a page. For the past few weeks, it’s becoming apparent that it’s not the case. As well as the fact “me too” blogs are becoming more widespread. Anyway…that’s why I asked…what makes a blog good anyway of good is so subjective.

T-Boy: Oops…there…problem solved. I made that line better.

  3. Kamigoroshi: Huh. Didn’t notice that.

I mean it. I ain’t improving my blog for the likes of youse, you, you, you fricking audience-member you.

  4. Unfortunately my reference in the post wouldn’t include people like yourself. But things will change…it’s only a matter of time.

  5. I try to blog for an audience, but I can’t please everyone every second of the time and I don’t expect to. I try to be myself when I blog — that’s much more important to me 🙂

  6. if you blog for yourself (not directed at you, of course), why do you ping PPS then? bollocks init?

by the way, how do you find our blog? Crap? Intellectual? Makes you happy (pun intended)?

    cheers!!

  7. I wouldn’t say that I blog entirely for myself, although I ensure that nobody tells me what to blog, what to write and what to talk about. It is my own online webspace and it’s up to me what to write. To say that I do not want any readers is to tell a lie. I would have written in a personal diary or keep an offline journal or something, far from being accessible to a large number of audience.

There is no one good or bad blog. ABC could be very good at making satires, DEF could be very good at telling sex stories, GHI could be very informative about new electronic gadgets and stuff, JKL could be very good at giving an insight on the local automotive industry, and so on.

It depends on what your interests are. If you’re into sports, you may wanna read one which is dedicated to sports. If you’re into erotic stories, maybe you could read DEF’s. I, for one, don’t like reading techblogs, although I must admit, some of them are really good at what they do – maintaining a techblog.

Personally, I dig originality. Be original, and I say you’re good, your blog’s good.

I concur with 1st commenter Mei, too. I nodded in agreement while reading her comment. So there 😉
