Pitfalls of Geekdom

I am a social animal even if I don't look like one. I live off being with people who know other people, the kind that can get you invited to parties that let you know more people.

Because of that, I don't like giving up my social life. Not for any reason at all, more so if they are the sensible kind. Yet, I find myself stuck here despite being invited out. Stuck here because there are a hundred and one good reasons why I shouldn't be out partying with friends and I hate myself even more for listening to those reasons.

Most of the time you can be proud to be a geek with common sense. Tonight is definitely not one of them.

Aaah yes, I fully agree. Being a social geek is a problematic opposition of two principles. Each needs an amazing amount of time invested in them, and they are typically mutually exclusive. I don’t know too many people who can function well at a coding party. ;p
