Finding The Ultimate Blogger Comment Hack…

Depression stemming a breakup isn't always a bad thing. Well…if you can overlook the constant stress related pains, recurring stomach ulcers, nightmares that lead to sleepless nights and the occassional teary-eyed thoughts…then yeah it really isn't a bad thing.

I mean come on, what have I done through out all this?

Annoy the hell out of people with my depressive whinniness? Yes…definitely. Push myself to the limits of mental and physical endurance? Oh yeah…that's a head nod. Learn things to do things I have never picked up before in such an impossibly short space of time? You betcha.

It's amazing what you can do to distract yourself on your third sleepless night in a row.

So in my quest to push my mind to the max. Here is what I've been up to:

Pretty much figured out Photoshop's bending options to produce things on my own.

Got the hang of ImageReady's Slicing tool and Mouseover options to make a website template

Picked up on CSS enough to be able to validate my own CSS files and am confidant the next time I design a tableless layout I'd be able to do it

Learnt the basic idea behind Liquid Layouts

Help fix layouts for other bloggers which rages from basic CSS to cross browser compatability

Designed layouts for other bloggers

Wrote a 4 part article regarding the basics of Blogging for newbies

Pretty busy considering it's been about 3 weeks since I started to do all this. And today after much tweaking and a little bit of success. I have found the perfect addition to complement my blogging knowledge.

If any of you are Blogger users, you'd know that only members of blogger can post up comments in their pages and that you have to sign into Blogger which directs you to another page to post…all pretty tiresome. Which is why alot of us have switched to Haloscan to make our comments easier.

Just one problem.

Haloscan deletes your older comments once it exceeds your quota under the basic account. If you don't mind this. It's ok. But I mind. That's how I found this.

What it does is combine Blogger's comment system and Haloscan's usability…and come out with something that resembles Movable Type or Wordpress Comments.

How cool is that?

No more Anonymous Posts, no more extra page to load and definitely no more old deleted comments.

Don't think you can get away with it. There is aot of code to put down and alot of tweaks to make sure your blog comes out looking right and not screw it up. With my extremely limited knowledge in HTML and javascript, it just took me…oh…the whole night to figure this thing out. It's not quite finished yet…but it works and works fine.

So being a good samaritan. I'm sharing this to all of you.

It was worth a sleepless night for it.

I’ve yet to work on CSS based Liquid layouts yet. Give me time laa. Or if this depression keeps going on. We’ll see…:P

As for your new commenting hack, thanks heaps! Something new for me to play with now that I’ve got my own CSS layouts sorted (more or less).

She is worth everything and so much more actually. When you found that right person you’re willing to do even the needful things for…you know you’ve reach the end of the search…even IF you’re having problems in between.

U mentioned Haloscan has got a limit, any idea how big (or small) it is?

Haloscan has about a 200 comment limit. After that it just disappears unless you sign up for the paid service.
