Jealousy’s Burden

“Why didn’t you tell me before?”

“Because I know you’d be upset because you want the same thing too so badly.”

She is right on that mark. Some things in life you can’t deny or pretend no matter how trivial or stupid it is. Why should I be upset if it happened? It happened as it happened and there is nothing I can do about it. It’s not even my life, it’s hers and I know she has the right do to whatever she wants to do in her life.

So why does my chest feel tight and my head feel like it’s burning up?

Because sometimes jealousy gets the best of you and there is nothing any of us can do about it. All we can do is accept that some things are as they are. No matter how much it’s worth, there is no price worth paying to destroy a friendship built on trust and compassion for one another, especially when you catch her in the corner of your eye and wonder if things could have turned out differently, would she be happy in your arms instead and never have to look back at the choices both of you made.
