Happy Birthday Footsteps In The Mirror

Mucking around the net browsing through blogs, it turns out that Sashi's blog has now officially turned 2 today. To that I wish his blog a nice happy birthday because being the Sashi that I know and read, I wouldn't want a blogger like him to pass on leaving us to the rest of that muck out there. I'm picky with what I like, that's as much as can be said.

Anyway, that got me all nostalgic and I ended up going through my own archives and as it turns out…Footsteps in the Mirror had it's birthday…yesterday. I didn't even know about and why would I? It's not like I'm big on birthdays anyway. Heck I wouldn't put too much stock in my own birthday let alone my own blog's birthday. But since I found out about it anyway, let it be said that at least the new theme I put in was an occassion that did not go to waste. Talk about coincidental timing.

Anyway, there was something I was meant to do a while back when I hit my 1000th post but never got a chance to do it with so many things happening in my life all at once. Seeing this is supposed to be a special occassion for my blog, this is as better time than any to do that challenge and up the ante a bit. These are the posts that to me are what makes Footsteps in the Mirror the blog that it is over the past 3 years. Good and bad, this is me as it is (or at least the part of me I could find).

  1. The First Post Ever
  2. Everything In A Blink Of An Eye…
  3. A Word To All Bloggers…
  4. Reasons To Read My Blog…
  5. How I Became Me (The Child-Raising Experiment)…
  6. Blogathon 2005: Help Make A Difference
  7. Signs Of Blogging Addiction
  8. The Sin Of Noodle Posting
  9. We’re That Blogger
  10. Malaysia and Terrorists I Would Love To See
  11. 30 Things To Do To Change The World In 30 Seconds
  12. How To Become A Malaysian Blogger
  13. To Someone Who Would Never Read This
  14. To Another Person Who Won’t Read This Blog
  15. The Price Of Being A Malay

You know what? For the heck of it, if you're someone who's been following my blog for a while, why don't you tell me what your favourite post here is? It doesn't have to be the ones I list out here, just as long as you thought it meant something to you. At least let me know you for what you see to be true. For a long time now, I shared my thoughts and feelings to all of you. Thanks for taking the time to read them. Thanks for being a part of what makes me who I am.

    Thanks Wu and Jeremy.

Chengsim: Come on, a post doesn’t have to be good cause XiaXue is in it. Besides, there was a better Xiaxue post in there somewhere if you can find it. :P

Pelf: You mean you love the green theme, cause what you said just made no sense. :P

ChickyBabe: 1000 posts in 3 years, not 1. Haha…it’s been a long time blogging for me. :)

Wow! It never occurred to me to do much to recognize the years that have passed, and in doing so, you reminded me that this is the 12th year I’ve been doing what is now called “blogging”. Or has it been 13? Or 14? Yikes, that how bad the memory goes when you aren’t reminded annually of your achievements.

I guess I could say that I’ve had a website for 12 or 13 years and a blog for 10 years, since the website only offered educational articles and information until we hit the road full time in 1996 when I started sharing our personal adventures and stories, which turned our website into a blog, though there was no name for it then. I called it my “Journal”.

This is good to think about these things and remember how far we have come and where we have to go next. Thanks for the reminder!

And excellent list of posts to brag about. Amazing to go through 3 years of posts to come up with that list!

belated birthday greeting to your blog, edrei. :)

the posts that i enjoyed reading from you are usually those that touch on bloggers and blogging or some posts on observations on life in general. i must say i’m not really into reading about a person’s deep personal life (eg her/his family, relationship and so on).

Vincent: Oh I’m sure you definitely got a kick out of that one. :)

Nayan: It’s green. I don’t know green, but I’m assuming that’s what it’s supposed to feel like. :)

Lorelle: Thanks. 12-13 years. Back in the good ol days when the net wasn’t accessible for everyone, when the wireless was just a dream unrealized and dancing jesus gifs. Dang, no wonder you got so much to link to on your blog. You’ve been writing for ages. That’s more to reflect on than I could.

Lucia: Haha, thanks…but you do realise I tend to blog about my personal life more these days right? :)

    EngLee: Thanks.

Happy Belated Blogavasery (err, as chickybabe put it)

May your blog have many more posts that you can brag about down the road to come.

Personally I think its the person him/herself that defines a blog and a good post. You’ve been blogging like you’ve done it for more than 3 years, and a pro at that. Keep doing what you’ve always been doing, it really defines who you are.

    Cheers. :)

One of my favourite entries would probably be the one on which you wrote about the blogosphere and about veteran bloggers, even though I disagreed with you, I think it was one of those entries which gave me a different persepctive on blogging.

    cheers!

Dee: Hehe, as Chooki said one time or another. Good bloggers don’t change, they just grow with it. :)

Sashi: As long as someone else is paying for it, I’m game. I no money liao. :P

    Centerpide: Thanks mate. :)

ChickyBabe: Yeah well…I may have been blogging longer than you, but you definitely are doing a shitload better than me in that department. I should be aspiring to reach your level, not the other way round. :)
