Smacked For Talking Too Much

What a week of publicity, it couldn’t have come at a worse time when I actually may have to neglect going online for long periods of time because I’m actually studying for something that does require more than just closing my eyes and randomly picking the answer.

Then again that time I’ve been waiting for is here, I am now an official member of 9rules which is a blog community which helps blogs get better and features them for their quality in which they were built on. Like I said before this, that’s pretty good for a personal blog like mine. I don’t see how I can contribute and all with all my random thoughts and…more random thoughts, but being giddy aside, I don’t think that’ll change where this bog will be heading. It’ll still be on the course that I’m steering it…and maybe it’ll be into a mardi gras parade rather than a brick wall. Time would tell on that one.

Then there is the review from “I Talk Too Much“. Ok, for those of you that don’t know who they are, they are basically blog reviewers that…very bluntly, go straight to the point about what they think of your blog. Surprisingly they weren’t that rude on my blog, as opposed to the sarcasm and insults they throw to some other blogs. In fact, they liked the template. It’s just these few nagging details that I have to work out which were:

  1. Fix the horizontal bar a bit because people might miss it thinking it’s a Blogger or WordPress toolbar (update: I’ve fixed that by putting it under the header, shouldn’t be a problem now).
  2. Fix that Javascript conflict between Sweet-Title and Lightbox in Internet Explorer (by the time you read this, the conflict would have already been fixed).
  3. The Paypal donate which…come to think of it, I don’t need anymore since I do have a part time job now and it takes up space on my sidebar.

That aside, I think the best part of the review was the fact that after they have a poor view of Malaysian-made blogs, it wasn’t pointed out that I am in fact a Malaysian and this is my blog. Not that I don’t like to be associated with Malaysian blogs, it’s just that I like to be associated with something a little more global-friendly. It’s good to be out there I say. And that being said is pretty honest a review. My posts might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but since when does a personal blog appeal to everyone in the first place?

Personally I’m hoping that the publicity from all this stays after the exams. There is something I might need the contribution of the readers to help. Not for me though, but for the people that really need the attention. It’ll come up again when I have to time to devote more time into it but for now, I’ll just keep it quiet. In any case, if you happened to come here from 9rules, I hope you like what you see. If you came here from “I Talk Too Much“, then I hope you had a good laugh at my expense.

Ain’t it a great day?

  1. Ha! I got fed up with review sites after a while. The more professional ones actually liked my blog (when i still had it)…the teenybopper ones went up in arms over the lack of coloured scrollbars. -_-

and congrats on the 9rules. 🙂

  2. Congrats. A constructively good review. And it’s nice to see some serious attention paid to personal bloggers. How else can we sort the meat from the chaff?
