Alright, this is how it goes. A few weeks ago I posted about this really nifty plugin that allows users to autotrackback their posts by category. After weeks of using it, it turns out that there are two bugs in the system that have been confirmed.
- The plugin auto inserts the same trackback for multiple categories.
- Wordpress does not catch multiple identical trackbacks for a same post.
Thankfully it's been quiet enough to bring this up to the guys up at Wordpress and these bugs have been worked over. Of course, there isn't going to be a new release of Wordpress 1.5 to work through the multiple trackback bug. That fix is only going to come out in Version 1.6.
What Mark was kind enough to do however was to help tweak the Autotrackback By Category plugin so now, there shouldn't be any problem with multiple pings if you have more than one category.
I've taken the liberty of putting up the plugin for you guys to download and use. It's pretty simple. All you have to do is download the zip file here then extract the php file into your plugins folder overriding the previous plugin if you have it there and that's it. Problem solved. You got a great autotrackback plugin that doesn't multiping any more.
I haven't really tested this plugin yet and in fact this is a test post to see if it multipings, but I trust the folks in #wordpress, so I'm betting that this version should work exactly as it should anyway. Otherwise my face would be so red after posting this.
Update: Yes the plugin officially works properly now. It didn't multiping. Now can you folks at PPS please remove me from the trackback spam blacklist already? Its a nice blog now. I swear!!
Update: Since WordPress 2.3. The plugin does not work anymore. I intend to update it evetually, but failing that. Someone can take it off me and develop it again.

hmm mine doens’t ping at all. used to work at my old blog, but doesn’t anymore. i managed to import my old posts from my old blog to my new domain. glad if u cud help

Hello,
Just wondering if anyone could help. I did something stupid and started my blog using a numerical archive system, and now I'd like to change it so that the post title is part of the URL for SEO reasons. Is there any Wordpress plugins that anyone knows of that could switch it without sending Googlers to invalid pages? Maybe some sort of redirector to the correct page?

Is there a new version more than 1.1 ?
Or that version covers all that bug that may come until this year?
